Bush Fire in Pacific Palisades June 9

While sitting in Prima Cantina today with my mom, sisters and brother-in-law, a Station 23 Fire Truck came rushing by with sirens and lights, headed east on Sunset at 12:44 p.m.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department Alert, about 1/8 acre of medium to heavy brush was burning uphill (no wind) at 13530 Sunset (just north of the Riviera Tennis Courts).

LAFD Spokesperson Margaret Stewart wrote “There was one structure threatened which firefighters defended from damage. Crews have hand lines encircling the perimeter and will remain on scene to conduct mop up operations to ensure no hot spots remain. Knockdown called at 1:19 p. m.

No cause of fire was given. Sunset remained closed for several hours, according to a construction worker who had to turn around and go down PCH, rather than continue driving on Sunset.

The meal was great and my mom got one of the last bowls of chicken tortilla soup.
