Park projects and problems regarding L.A. City Parks are heard by a five-member civilian oversight committee, the Board of Recreation and Parks Commissioners of the City of Los Angeles.
If a resident has an issue with a park, he/she can go directly to this board with a concern during public comment. Commissioners meet twice a month in person and virtually.
This April 6 meeting at 9:30 a.m. is of special importance because it will start with an acknowledgment of Service of Commissioner Joe Halper (see story).
After the approval of minutes, the general manager gives an oversight of park activities. Then, the public is allowed to comment on matters under the jurisdiction of RAP.
One of the board reports, 23-065, might be of special interest to Pacific Palisades residents because it concerns the George Wolfberg Park at Potrero Canyon. The commissioners will hear about a stop payment notice and bond between the landscaper Ford E.C. and Ferreira Construction Company for $1,370,850.
At the end of the 12 reports listed on the agenda, which includes Rancho Cienega Sports Complex, Hansen Dam, Dockweiler and Griffith Park, the public is allowed to comment on agenda items.
