NEW TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR COUNCILMAN MIKE BONIN

By Sue Pascoe · April 3, 2020

Many people say they haven’t been able to reach Mike Bonin, our District 14 councilman, during the coronavirus. In an April 3 email to constituents, Bonin wrote, “If you want to reach us, please call 213-444-3508. It is a new central number that allows you to reach us even when my staff is telecommuting. You can also email us, and you can call 311 to request basic city services. We are committed to continuing throughout this public health crisis the work we do every day to help solve problems in our neighborhood.”

BROKEN CELL PHONE? HERE’S A REPAIR TIP

A reader wrote: “A couple of days ago, my daughter broke her iPhone at Gelson’s by shutting the car door on it, and it was only showing bars of light. This caused real concern because Apple and its affiliates are shut down.

“We took it to Joey at Iphone Repair, 1728 S. La Cienega Blvd., and while we waited, he fixed it and also put on a glass protector screen. He’s got all sorts of parts to do all sorts of more complex tasks than just fixing a broken screen. Really nice guy. His number is (310) 626-2358.”

STARTING A NEW BUSINESS

I may have less time for the newsletter in the next few weeks because I’m starting a new business: Creating fake ID cards for those people who are not old enough to get that first hour or half-hour of senior shopping at  local grocery stores.

Early-bird shoppers who are only 50 or 55 (or even 60) are out of luck and must watch in desperation near the entrance of supermarkets as “seniors” come out, having purchased the last roll of toilet paper or paper towels.

Once you have my “Senior ID” card and are asked to show identification, you’ll be able to produce an out-of-state driver’s license with a name clearly misspelled, and a birthdate sometime before 1954. However, make sure you at least look old enough to pass for a 60-plus person. Gray hair helps.
