Art Show on the Village Green July 21
Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore will support the Palisades Village Green and local and national conservation organizations with an art exhibit and sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, at the Village Green park (corner of Swarthmore and Sunset).
Fifteen local artists will be displaying and selling their original landscapes of the nearby Santa Monica National Recreation Area.
The Village Green is located on the site of an original park founded in 1923. It was later leased to Standard Oil for a gas station. The community dreamed of recreating the park and in August 1973, a privately funded park was created to be enjoyed by residents. The park is supported solely by donations and is maintained by volunteers.
Allied Artists is a 20-year-old organization of local artists that provides information, art and an appreciation of the local mountains and seashore as a public service and donates a portion of art sales to conservation and environmental organizations.
The group also sponsors free monthly paint-outs on the second Saturday of the month that provide a unique opportunity for painters to enjoy a sense of camaraderie with like-minded people and are a great way to see the beauty of the natural environment. Paint-outs are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and are open to any artist and any media and at any skill level. Visit: allied-artists.com.
