VALENTINE’S DAY DANCE

The Ronald Reagan American Legion Post 283 is resuming its dinner/dances, with a Valentine’s Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 17. The doors open at 5:30 and dancing continues until midnight at the Legion Post, 15247 La Cruz Drive.
The cost for the dinner (tri tip and salmon and music provided by a deejay is $30 for a single person or $40 for a couple. SINGING VALENTINE
It’s still not too late to order a singing valentine. The Oceanaires will once again offer singing Valentines to the Westside and Downtown L.A. on Wednesday, February 14.
A barbershop quartet will arrive at the designated destination and sing two special songs, deliver a balloon and a card—with a personalized message from the sender. Prices start at $50 and jump to $75 after February 10. Visit:
SHELTER DONATIONS
Donations to bring items that will bring comfort to shelter animals is underway. Accepted items include dog and cat beds, toys, food, blankets, clothing, collars and leashes. (Please do NOT drop off pillows, expired food, fitted sheets and stuffies with holes—they will not be accepted.) Cash donations will be accepted and an Amazon Wishlist has been created. FEBRUARY 4-8 RAINFALL
The atmospheric river over Pacific Palisades that began Sunday, February 4 lasting through the early morning on February 8 dropped 8.1 inches of rain in the gauge on Radcliffe. The year-to-date total for the Palisades is already at 21.8 inches of rain. Normal annual rainfall, measured from July 1 to June 30 is 13.78 inches of rain.
AND AN EARTHQUAKE
A 4.6 magnitude earthquake, centered near Malibu, shook buildings in Pacific Palisades on February 9. The quake occurred around 1:45 p.m. and there was no damaged reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, it was 38 miles deep. The quake fell on the anniversary of the 1971 Sylmar earthquake.
