Tramonto, an upscale Italian eatery with an extensive wine list and Tuscan vibe that overlooked the Pacific Ocean in Southern Malibu, burned in the Palisades Fire. A reader wrote, “we just found Wilfredo post fire, and he lost all of his customer contacts, so we wanted to share with you.
For more than 30 years, Wilfredo Barrera had been a part of Malibu’s culinary scene, starting at Malibu’s Tra di Noi, then as a waiter at the local Sage Room, attending culinary school, and hatching an American dream of owning a restaurant. “It was very tough, like looking at the moon,” Barrera said. “It seemed very far away.” Decades later, in 2016, he took over Tramonto Bistro, then his business suffered in the Woolsey Fire, Covid and now the Palisades Fire.
“The food is better than ever and he now just caters,” the reader said. “We just had a small group over this evening, and the food was hot, affordable and delicious for a crowd. Off menu is broccoli garlic penne which my non-broccoli loving kids devour so that alone is a win and the salmon penne is amazing.”
Catering is available for corporate events, birthday celebrations or casual get-togethers and the upcoming holidays. Tramonto Malibu is now catering out of its new location at 2352 S. Sepulveda Blvd. Operating hours are Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and closed on Sunday.
Barrera said, “Your support means everything in this unprecedented time, and together we will keep moving forward.”

On the flip side, Prima Cantina on Sunset Boulevard in the Palisades will be opening an additional location at the former Tramonto Bistro spot at 22235 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
