LETTER: I’m Tired of Feeling LIke a Victim

The Palisades Fire that destroyed nearly 7,000 homes could have been prevented.

I’m tired of feeling like a victim.

First the fires and losing our home and all our possessions to Karen Bass for ignoring our community and allowing the devastation to happen:

To having to relive the trauma and identifying everything we lost:

To State Farm for failing to find us suitable housing,

To our Mar Vista landlord (Brian Tan, Tenacity LLC) for price gauging and increasing rent from $8,000 to $12,500 after the fires and to the same landlord who refuses to return our $12,500 deposit after claiming we owe more rent,

To our State Farm representative who promised to get back to us with answers to our many questions but never did,

To being told by State Farm that because we are not rebuilding, we will not receive the full amount of our claim,

To FireAid for using people like us to pull on heartstrings for donations and then not giving victims a dime,

To Carolwood Estates, and the agent for the seller of the home we bought, for failing to share important and costly information,

To DMV for an impossible website to navigate in an attempt to change our address on licenses and registrations and spending three hours at the DMV yesterday and being treated like something less than human.

And now the young man arrested for starting the fire on January 1 will become a convenient distraction from the real cause of the fires and those who should be held accountable.

I’m tired of all of it! I’ve always been a glass half-full person, but the glass is now empty. I just want my home and community back!!

Start a second ‘RECALL GOV. NEWSOM’ Campaign!

Add to the list the DWP is not waiving any fees or permits. They contend they are for services and materials. Becasue they bill them in advance for set amount and provide no listing of materials or specific service they are by definition fees. Mayor Bass is a coward and unwilling to stand up for an order drafted by Traci Park and the Mayor issued.

The aaronist is to blame for the fire on January 1.
LAFD and DWP are to blame for the January 7 fire.

No the answer is for everyone to “take a step to the right.” All we need are five people in one chamber and eight in another to overcome the super majority that allows these laws to be rammed down our throats. People need to stop letting TDS color everything and realize that Republican and independent are not dirty words. It’s only with those legislator changes that good laws can get through committee and bad laws can be amended or replaced

    Think about that in November

I couldn’t agree more – with all of it!

  5. Susan Blake says:

Recall is a waste of money and time! We tried it once before and it didn’t pass
He is up for reelection soon. Thus time vote for someone who had our best interest at heart

  6. Im so tired of being played! First, State Farm tries to stiff us, then FireAid bilks donors, and dont get me started on Carolwood Estates and the DMV – what a joke of an agency! And now the fire starter gets all the attention while the real arsonists run free? Give me a break! Im officially a glass half-empty kinda gal, and its empty! Maybe a recall is whats needed – after all, its only money, right? Just give me my home back already!

We will see how voters are willing, or not, to negate the Taxpayer Independent Redistricting Commission and follow what Bass and Newsome are spewing. Please use your noodle and stop playing into their game. Big question, “why hasn’t the $700,000.00 salaried DWP director been fired?

Agree agree agree. As if losing outcomes and precious things and our community wasn’t enough. We have liars in leadership, who continue to not admit their fault and the part they played, State Farm slow rolling & low balling my clam too. Having to list all our contents??? Cmon! And yes elections matter. I just want competency & people who truly care about taking care of their people. No more career politicians! Let’s give em all a hoot next election.
