WE NEED YOUR BLOOD, REALLY
The American Red Cross urges people to give blood to help offset the severe impact of recent winter storms. Dangerous ice and snow have disrupted the ability to collect and transport lifesaving blood products for patients in need. The Red Cross is asking eligible donors to make an appointment to give blood <or platelets> as soon as possible. As a thank-you, all who give Jan. 26-Feb. 28, 2026, will receive a $20 e-gift card to a merchant of choice. See RedCrossBlood.org/Heart for details. There are several sites to give in Culver City, Santa Monica and Westfield Century City.
FINALLY, A DIFFERENT VIEW
After the Palisades Fire, nearly 27,000 people had to find a new place to live. Displaced residents found ample apartments available. The truth is there is housing, the other truth is most of the apartments are expensive, luxury and out of the reach of anyone who doesn’t have a high-paying job or insurance money to pay for it. Writer Zelda Bronstein, in a February 2 story in 48hillls (“Finally, a media breakthrough of the pro-Yimby narrative that has dominated press and politics”) and added “The Washington Post, of all places, runs a story on a new study debunking the idea that more market-rate housing will bring down prices.” Finally, a media breakthrough of the pro-Yimby narrative that has dominated press and politics – 48 hills UCLA professor Michael Storper was quoted “The supply you get is the wrong kind of supply.”
