UGLY NEWSRACKS

A reader wondered, “How can we get rid of these unsightly newspaper stands that spoil and soil our beautiful village streets?”
Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe PRIDE? Maybe call 311?
DOG TAGS
This editor noticed that the dogs’ tags that identified the names of my canines, and a number to contact if they broke off leash, had faded. Luckily, Collar & Leash at 518 Palisades Drive, has a machine to engrave and wide variety of colors and styles to choose from.
NO CAR REPAIR IN TOWN
The service garage at the 76 Station at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Via de la Paz will be replaced with a convenience store. Demolition started. If you want to read the story visit: https://www.circlingthenews.com/design-review-bo…-the-shade-store/.
Basically, 76 owner Robert Munakash said the change was needed because service bays are not profitable as his convenience store at PCH and Sunset. “It’s been a game changer,” he said.
Several people suggested going to the Shell station across the street for service issues, but that too, will soon close to be replaced with a convenience story. It, too, went through the Design Review Board. On July 28, the Shell Station owner, Saeed Kahanoff received a conditional use permit for the “demolition of an existing 1,620 square-foot building and construction of a new 2,440 square foot convenience store.
