BLAME THE HOMELESS:

Mayor Bass said 30 percent of the fires that LAFD goes to are started by the homeless. This editor has been reporting on fires in the Palisades for easily a decade or more. At one point, even though it was suspected it was a homeless fire, firefighters were told they could not attribute those fires to the homeless. The incident cause was always listed as “undetermined.” Is this progress or is common sense starting to return?

HEARD TODAY IN THE PALISADES:

Why doesn’t Palisades receive more LAPD? One officer told CTN “residents don’t report crimes.” On the Crime Report today, there were two burglaries reported and one theft. Crime reporting has changed and only AGG, Robbery and Burglary are the only crimes that have labels. Icons have been introduced

BURGLARY. April 27, 8 p.m. on Bienveneda Avenue.  Front door was pried home to a vacant home. Miscellaneous property was removed (Ring camera, handbag and coffeemaker).

BURGLARY. May 2. 7:50 p.m. on West Channel Road. Rear door smash, two males, smashed rear door and entered. Victim believes nothing was taken. Suspects were wearing gloves—no prints.

THEFT. No date. In the p.m. According to the map, the crime [icon] appears to be on Radcliffe.

 FIRE SERVICE DAY:

Fire Service Day is an annual event, generally held in May. This year, the Los Angeles Fire Department invites community members to visit an LAFD fire station on Saturday, May 9, from 10 am.- 4 p.m. The theme is “Forward Together: Building a More Resilient Los Angeles.” Stations 69 (15045 Sunset Boulevard at Carey) and 23 (17281 Sunset Boulevard at Los Liones Dr) will be open for visitors. Station 69 Captain Thomas Kitahata, said it will be lowkey this year, no dignitaries, but all are welcome to come to the open house and visit with firefighters.
