Jim Kirtley, the Palisades-Malibu YMCA Executive Director, said that he ordered less pumpkins this year because of the fire and the number of people gone from the community.
But more than pumpkin sales, it was about keeping a long-standing tradition alive. He said that some people came to the patch and were so happy/sad they started crying.
In that same spirit, Kirtley plans to open the YMCA Christmas Tree lot at Simon Meadow (Temescal Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard), but before he orders he needs to know about how many people plan to visit, and if there’s a preference for tree size.
The dates the lot will be open will be from November 28 to December 19. Hours will be Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
“We’ll also be hosting a special Ho!Ho!Ho! Holiday Event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 13,” Kirtley said. “This will be a fun, family-friendly afternoon filled with cheer and community connection.
“Before we finalize preparations, we’d love your feedback,” Kirtley said. “We want to make sure this year’s Tree Lot truly meets the needs of our community. Thank you for being part of the Lowe Family YMCA family! Together, we can make this season bright for all.”
