Republican Club Meeting Features Former Sheriff Villanueva

Alex Villanueva will be the festured speaker.

The Pacific Palisades Republican Club is hosting a members’ meeting with a keynote address by former Sheriff Alex Villanueva from 2:45 to 5 p.m. on Sunday October 26, at the Elks Club, 1040 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica.  Everyone is welcome to attend, but an RSVP is necessary by October 24 to palisadesrepublicans@gmail.com .

Villanueva, the 33rd Sheriff of Los Angeles County, will speak on “Public Safety: The Primary Duty of Government.”

In May, he announced he was leaving the Democratic Party and registering as a Republican, stating he was “joining the party of faith, family, and freedom.”

In July, he announced he will run for reelection against Sheriff Robert Luna who will also be running for reelection in 2026.

In 2018, Villanueva defeated incumbent Sheriff Jim McDonnell. The retired sheriff’s lieutenant was the first Spanish-speaking sheriff in the county.

Palisades resident and Santa Monica businessman John Alle, who co-founded the Santa Monica Coalition will also speak.
