Senior Lead Officer Brian Espin released the following Part 1 crimes. He noted that some crimes are not captured in the new mapping software, and include Grand Theft Auto (GTA), Burglary Theft from Vehicle (BTFV) and Theft. He noted that there was one GTA and two BTFV in this time frame in the Palisades.
AGGREVATED ASSAULT:
May 23 at 3 p.m. in the 800 block of Swarthmore. The victim went to a store in the 800 block of Swarthmore to recover property stolen during a burglary from victim’s store. The victim interrupted the suspect selling his property. The suspect then punched, kicked and stomped victim in the head. Suspect bit victim in the neck. A second suspect struck the victim and then fled. CCTV is possibly available.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY:
May 23, at 6:30 a.m. in the 17700 block of Tramonto. The male Hispanic suspect attempted to pry open a side door. The victim, inside the residence, yelled at the suspect and the suspect fled. CCTV is available. Prints were requested.
BURGLARY:
May 2, 4:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Iliff Street. Unknown suspect(s) smashed a second story rear window and took jewelry worth $9,000 from the master bedroom closet. The suspect then took victim’s Tesla Model S, which was located in the garage. The suspect caused substantial damage to the garage, backing out while the garage door was closed. Latent prints were requested.
May 24, at 4 p.m. in the 700 block of Almar Avenue. The front glass door of the residence was smashed, and an unknown suspect entered, ransacked and removed property. No suspects were seen/identified.
May 24 at 7:20 p.m. in the 300 block of Arno Way. Two males smashed a bathroom window, entered the residence, ransacked and removed jewelry valued at $15,000. There is CCTV available.
May 25 at 1 p.m. in the 1100 block of Galloway Street. An unknown suspect smashed the rear door, entered, ransacked and removed property. No suspects were seen or identified.
Appears that (dutifully) locking our doors isn’t the answer any more? Alarm systems – and cameras – are needed? Good to know. Thank you for the reports.
